LIMITED SPORTSMAN
CAR
This division is open to any 1955 or newer sedan, or jig-built chassis with stock front clip.
WEIGHT
A. Stock clip car with built motor 2650 lbs. after race minus 1 lb. per lap burn off.
B. GM 602 in tube car 2650 lbs. after race minus 1 lb. per lap burn off.
C. GM 602 crate engine in stock front clip cars, deduct 150 lbs. from above combinations. 2500 lbs. with driver.
D. Tube cars may run with 602 crate motor only. NO weight deduction on these cars and 40 lbs. of weight must be mounted ahead of flywheel.
ENGINE
A. ONLY stock production steel V-8 or V-6 engines. Motor maybe setback 1"from #1 spark plug to top ball joint. Solid motor mounts permitted.
B. 360 cubic inches maximum Ford and Chevrolet. 374 cubic inches maximum Dodge/Chrysler. MUST utilize stock bore and stroke combinations. Small block engines ONLY.
C. .060ths over bore permitted on all engines. Block may be surfaced. Pistons may not exceed top of block more than one 10th. Measured with out head gasket.
D. Stock steel rods or stock type steel rods. Eagle H-Beams rods permitted, but no other H-Beam rods allowed. MUST be stock length to the engine. (EX: 350 Chevrolet 5.7" maximum length). No titanium, aluminum or any other exotic material permitted. Ford and Mopar 6 inch rods permitted.
E. Steel or cast factory production crank shafts ONLY. 48 lbs. minimum weight. Casting number must be plainly visible. Cranks must be stock stroke to engine. (EX: 3.48" maximum for 350 Chevrolet) NO knife edging. Eagle or Scat crankshaft OK must meet above rules! Ford crankshaft must weigh 54 lbs.
F. No dry sump oiling systems
G. Engine balancing permitted.
H. Chassis type collector headers ONLY. Tri-Y headers permitted. Headers must turn in under firewall or out bottom of fender. Must have Shoenfeld muffler # 112535 or other muffler that has adequate noise reduction and performance features.
I. Any flat top piston. 2 or 4 valve relief piston permitted. Ford must use these pistons when running World Products Windsor SR heads.
J. Any flat tappet camshaft permitted. No roller camshafts. Lifters must be stock diameter.
CYLINDER HEADS
A. Any OEM Factory production steel heads. GM 062 or 906 Vortec heads allowed. NO Dart or SVO. Ford may run GT40 steel head. Dodge can run w2 steel heads. Bowtie Phase ll cast Iron head permitted part # 1013492 casting # 140110034.
B. NO angle plug heads, except Ford or Chrysler.
C. Angle milling of heads OK.
D. Multi angle valve job permitted. NO porting, polishing, squaring, or epoxying of ports.
E. Valve size Chevrolet, Ford or Mopar 2.02" intakes and 1.65" exhausts max.
F. Stainless steel valves permitted.
G. Screw in studs and guide plates permitted.
H. Roller tip rockers. Aluminum rockers and stud girdles permitted. No shaft mounted rockers.
I. Any valve retainers . Any spring permitted.
J. GM 062 or 906 Vortec cylinder heads permitted with following specs: 175cc intake runner volume max; 64cc exhaust runner volume max. World Products 4360 or4361 and Windsor SR heads permitted. Bowtie Phase ll maximum runner volume on intake not to exceed 184cc.
K. NO aluminum heads permitted.
INTAKE MANIFOLD
A. Any aluminum or cast iron intake.
B. NO porting, polishing, or epoxing of runners permitted.
C. 1" carburetor spacer allowed.
CARBURETOR
A. 3310 vacuum secondary, Stock OEM production 4 barrel, or any carburetor smaller with vacuum secondary.
B. Air horn may be removed.
C. NO porting, polishing, or modifying of venturies. NO altering of boosters, throttle shafts, butterflies, or throttle plate.
D. NO double pumpers permitted. Carbs checked with no-go-gauges made to Holley specs.
E. May drill idle holes in primary butterflies.
F. Crate motors may use any 4 barrel carburetor.
FUEL SYSTEMS
A. Stock fuel pumps ONLY. No electrical pumps.
B. Racing fuel cell mandatory.
C. NO alcohol, NO nitrous oxide, gas ONLY.
D. Sunoco blue or purple only. Fuel must not be check above (+) (-) 5 on electric fuel checker when calibrated with A.M.S. track racing fuel.
IGNITION
A. Any electronic or breaker type ignition system allowed.
B. No magnetos
C. No traction control
CLUTCH
A. Triple disc clutch OK.
B. May run aluminum flywheel.
C. Must have working clutch.
TRANSMISSION
A. Stock factory production standard or automatic transmissions. Bert or Brinn transmissions allowed. No Jerico, Tex or other quick change transmissions. May run racing automatic transmission.
B. Transmission must have two working forward gears and one working reverse gear.
C. Driveshaft may be steel, aluminum or carbon fiber, and have steel drive shaft loop front and rear. Bert Ball Spline transmission must run carbon fiber drive shaft.
FRAME AND SUSPENSION
A. 104" wheel base minimum. 1" tolerance
B. Uni-body chassis may be connected.
C. Front clip must be stock and have a minimum 2" x 2" square tube or 1 ½" x .090 round steel tubing from rear of front clip to back bumper. May use tubular lower control arm mounted in stock location.
D. May use safety spindles. ½" wheel studs and 1" lug nuts required.
E. Tubular upper A-arms permitted.
F. Stock steering ONLY. Quick steers allowed. NO RACK-N-PINION steering except jig built front ends equipped with GM 602 crate.
G. Jack screws permitted.
H. No coil-over springs on front. 5" coil springs required on front. Except Jig built cars equipped with GM 602 crate.
I. Coil-over springs allowed on rear only.
J. Racing shocks permitted. No single or double adjustable shocks allowed. No canister shocks.
K. Stock or quick-change rear ends permitted.
L. Torque links or rubber snubber bars okay. Must be mounted top of rear end to chassis. May run 9010 shock on top of rear end. Lift bar or 5th coil permitted on all cars.
M. Any type trailing arms or leaf springs. 3 link or 4 link or swing arm rear suspension allowed.
N. Traction shock on left rear permitted.
BODY
A. All bodies must meet UDTRA body rules.
B. NO fins or raised lips of any kind permitted.
C. Windshield screen or bars permitted.
D. After-market aluminum or fiberglass bodies allowed. No wedge bodies.
E. No push bars in front of bumper.
F. 8" spoiler maximum height, spoiler may not be wider than 72" and supported with a maximum of 3 triangular supports not to exceed 18" long and 8" high at rear of support, and not more than 3" high at front of support. May use 1" wide flat aluminum for support. Top edge may be rolled or lipped a maximum of 1" for added strength and support.
G. Car can't be wider than 76" front to rear.. Quarter panels can't be longer than 46" or higher than 37".
H. Light tube bracing behind bumpers only.
I. Must have front and rear tow hooks.
J. Stock front clip cars may run 12" spoiler height and 18" max support width.
WHEELS AND TIRES
A. Steel or aluminum wheels allowed.
B. 12" or 14" wheels allowed. Bead lock wheels allowed.
C. Wide 5 adapters allowed.
E. Track tire Spec D21, D55, or D70 Hoosier Racing Tires only. American Racer 48, 56 and 70 also allowed.
F. NO tire softeners allowed. Tires will be subject to a minimum durometer reading.
